A list of things that help when I'm struggling to get stuff done
📝 Relevant To Your Interests #7
Happy Friday!
When it rains, it pours. I put my back out! I did my 20th run of the Couch to 5K programme three days ago and now I can’t get up. So this edition of Relevant To Your Interests is brought to you from the floor.
Given my sorry state, today’s issue is on what I do when things are tough and I’m struggling to get stuff done.
It covers getting back to work after a tragedy, and that awkward phase when you’re still not over it but others have moved on. I’ve also got some great tips, including a science-based technique for getting out of a rut, as well as fun recs for everyday luxuries and permission to do something counterproductive.
If that sounds helpful, keep reading.
An interlude for my sales pitch 💌
If we met at a conference and you asked me for career advice, would you buy me a coffee to say thanks? Probably. Why not support A-Mail instead – you get the same wisdom for less and you don’t even have to leave your sofa.
A-Mail is a newsletter about work, money and power. You know, just the main forces in our lives. Paying subscribers get access to my roundup of productivity recs, as well as my quarterly income reports where I share exactly how I made my money in the previous three months. Reader support also funds my stories, essays and critical thinking on the chaos of modern work.
